Rosalia Caroline Hoffschmidt

Rosalia Caroline Hoffschmidt, 99, of Janesville, WI passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 just 95 days short of her 100th birthday. Rosalia was born in Klinger, Iowa on July 10, 1911, the daughter of Otto and Maria (Westphal) Schueler. She married Harry Hoffschmidt on July 19,1943. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1979. Rosalia was formerly employed by the Rock County Bank. She and her husband formerly resided in Milwaukee and later moved to Delavan where they resided for many years. Mrs. Hoffschmidt moved to Janesville in the early 1990’s. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing the piano, which her father taught to her as a child. Throughout her married life, Rosalia especially enjoyed traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed bouquets of flowers in her home and taking photos of family members.

Rosalia Hoffschmidt is survived by her sister, Hertha Schueler of Janesville, 15 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a special uncle, Bill Schueler who resided in the family home, 7 brothers, Erwin Schueler, Herbert Schueler, twin brothers, Erich and Arnold Schueler, Ewald Schueler, Gerhardt Schueler, an infant brother, Hugo Schueler, 2 sisters, Clara Fuller, Gertrude Johnson and a nephew, Gary Schueler.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 709 Milton Avenue, Janesville. Pastor Mark Lindner and Vicar Joel Voss will officiate. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
